Q: What is the difference between the styling or sculpting gel?

Asked by: Ana - 7/27/2018
A: Styling Gel creates a flexible hold while Sculpting Gel creates a hard hold. Both products are water-based products, easily wash out without leaving residue. and both can be re-activated by re-moistening with a little water.

Q: Looking for non-itch hair shine product?- NOT Morroccon oil....thanks

Asked by: judith - 7/1/2018
A: If shine is what you seek without resorting to cyclomethicone or dimethicone, then Scalp Rescue Pomade is your go-to product. Scalp-friendly ingredients (shea butter, jojoba, coconut, grape seed and olive oils) nourish and condition hair while imparting a deep shine. Just be careful not to use too much of a good thing, lest your hair look greasy and weighed down. These amazing ingredients also make the Pomade a great overnight conditioner.

Scalp Rescue products all contain pure tea tree oils that have been shown to help relieve an itchy scalp caused by dandruff.

Q: Is it also possible to leave this product in your hair if you don't wash your hair every day, but say like every other day? Because people with dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis are not adviced to wash their hair every day as washing your hair and scalp every day can aggravate these skin conditions. I am particulary interested if this is also possible for people with seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis as these skin conditions are worse in general compared to dandruff. I see that the product is PVP and alcohol free. So it should be safe to leave it in when you wash your hair every other day (3-4 times a week). Can someone please elaborate on this matter. Perhaps there are also people who have a personal experience with this product and left it in for, say, 2 days instead if 1.

Asked by: Ray - 7/7/2018
A: In our opinion it would be absolutely safe for you to leave the gel in your hair as long you don't show any sensitivities to the ingredients, which would be unlucky.

Q: How should this be used if I'm also using the balm, my hair is ending up very dry on a second day and full of tangles?

Asked by: Sheila Turner - 5/16/2019
A: Neither the Scalp Rescue Smoothing Balm or Styling Gel should be drying your hair.

If your hair is getting dry then the first thing to look at is what you are washing your hair with. If this isn't our Shampoo then we recommend using it.

Also you may need to use (more of) the Scalp Rescue Conditioner.

The best thing to do is to use the contact us feature, telling us a little bit about your natural hair state, and your washing and styling routine, and what you would like to achieve, and we'll see what our product gurus recommend.

Q: Can you blow dry your hair with the Gel in it? I have very fine and thin hair, which I have permed. I don't use a curling iron, just a blow dryer, which I have to gently (as I can) blow dry my hair, or I will not have any body at all.

Asked by: Dee - 7/10/2019
A: Absolutely you can! Most women using Styling Gel, if not air drying, are using a blow dryer maybe with a diffuser of some type. But if you have fine AND thin hair we recommend you using a small amount...

Q: Does this product have a strong sent - looking for scent free product?

Asked by: Dee - 5/18/2020
A: This product has a fragrance from the essentials of lemon tea tree, tea tree, lavender and rosemary essential oils; all beneficial to scalp health. The essential oils aren't very tenacious so the fragrance wears off quite quickly. If in doubt we recommend trying the samples in our SAMPLE section.

Q: Is this also for African American natural hair?

Asked by: Doreen - 8/2/2020
A: We make two Styling Gels that you can feel completely confident with for African American curly hair. We work with so many natural/curly based Salons that love our products!

Depending on the type of hold you want for your hair, you can decide between Scalp Rescue Styling Gel that gives a
more regular hold, is water soluble so you can restyle, mist throughout the day. Never sticky and gives shine to your
hair. Scalp Rescue Sculpting Gel gives a stronger hold for more defined curls, also water soluble and great shine.
Both are great at combating humidity!

Q: What's the difference between the styling gel and sculpting gel? I have curly hair and use the scalp rescue shampoo and conditioner.

Asked by: Robin - 3/14/2024
A: The Scalp Rescue Styling Gel provides low flexible hold to calm fly-away or frizz. The Scalp Rescue Sculpting Gel uses two fixatives so its hold is stronger and when dry the hair will be more crunchy. You can always use a combination of the two for something in between.
