About Max Green Alchemy
Max Green Alchemy was founded in 2004 with a straightforward belief: choosing more responsible personal care should never mean settling for products that are ineffective, joyless or difficult to use.
We set out to combine the intelligence of modern formulation with carefully selected plant-origin ingredients, creating products that respect the hair, scalp, skin, animals and the wider environment while still delivering the performance customers expect.
Today, our range includes more than 35 haircare, skincare and body-care products. Although the collection has grown, the principles behind it remain remarkably consistent: formulate thoughtfully, manufacture responsibly, communicate honestly and never stop looking for ways to improve.

Why We Began
In the early 2000s, founders David and Wil were watching the European natural personal-care market evolve. Customers were asking more questions about ingredients, animal testing and environmental impact, yet much of the American market had barely begun to respond.
Too many products were dressed in the language of nature without being meaningfully different. Others were environmentally thoughtful but disappointing to use. Customers were often made to feel that they had to choose between ethical values and genuine performance.
David and Wil believed there was a better way. They began developing plant-powered formulas that were effective, sensorial and uncompromising in their standards. From that conviction, Max Green Alchemy was born.

Botanical ingredients should do more than make a label look attractive. We select ingredients for their contribution to the formula, the experience of using the product and the results customers are trying to achieve.
Our formulas bring together plant infusions, botanical extracts, essential oils and carefully chosen functional ingredients to create products that are enjoyable, practical and effective.

Unlike many personal-care brands, we do not simply hand our ideas to an outside manufacturer and wait for finished products to arrive.
Our products are made in-house at our facility in Rohnert Park, California. This keeps us close to the raw materials, the formulas and the finished products, giving us greater control over quality, consistency and the standards behind every batch.

What We Leave Out Matters Too
Our ingredient standards were established long before “clean beauty” became a familiar marketing phrase. We continually review the materials we use and avoid ingredients that do not align with our formulation philosophy, environmental standards or the experience we want our customers to have.
We call this approach Cosmetic Counter Intelligence: looking beyond fashionable claims and considering why an ingredient is present, how it functions, the amount used and whether it genuinely belongs in the finished formula.

Our commitment to cruelty-free personal care is not a recent response to changing consumer expectations. It has been part of Max Green Alchemy from the beginning and continues to guide the way we formulate, source ingredients and work with our suppliers.
We do not test our finished products on animals, and we expect the ingredients and materials used in our formulas to align with our cruelty-free standards. For us, ethical personal care is not a marketing claim—it is an ongoing responsibility.

Environmental Responsibility Is Ongoing
We consider recyclability, material use, shipping efficiency, product protection and customer safety when choosing packaging. These decisions are rarely simple, and we do not pretend that any packaging solution is perfect.
Our responsibility is to keep asking better questions, reduce unnecessary impact where practical and improve as more responsible materials and systems become available.
