The Lightweight Vegan Alternative To Keratin Treatment That Will Transform Your Hair: Scalp Rescue Smoothing Balm

Introduction

Struggling with hair that doesn’t seem to behave no matter what you try?

There are many products targeted towards smoothing frizz, flyaways, and runaway hairs of all sorts; but many are filled with synthetics and silicones that only provide superficial results, and may not take the health of your hair into account!

You could always opt for one popular and highly successful choice, a keratin treatment; which leaves hair silky, smooth and dead-straight for months. Also commonly referred to as a “Brazillian blowout,” traditional keratin treatments may straighten your hair texture, but at what cost?

You may be surprised to learn that keratin treatments always involve a formaldehyde-based releasing solution (and other questionable chemicals that may not be FDA approved FYI!) in which your hair is soaked for up to twenty minutes.

Sure, twenty minutes in exchange for up to three months of silky straight locks may sound appealing, but isn’t it quite frightening now that you know what keratin actually involves?

You’re not out of options, though! Let’s explore a natural alternative to keratin, that will smooth (the shafts of) your hair - without straightening your hair - and will even rescue your scalp!

But first…

Why exactly is formaldehyde in keratin treatments so bad?

Brenda Kant, colorist specialist at 454 North Salon in Los Angeles, recently told Marie Claire,  "Formaldehyde isn't actually a single ingredient—it's a gas that's emitted from other chemicals being exposed to heat," which essentially means that "... a product can say it's formaldehyde-free, but still contain the ingredients that create the gas.”

In fact, the New York State Department of Health posted a health alert for beauty salon owners and workers who work with “Hair Straightening Products and Formaldehyde” a snippet of which you can see below:

If you or anyone in your salon uses hair straightening products, here is some important information for you to consider. A group of hair straightening products known as "Brazilian Keratin Treatment" (BKT) may contain formaldehyde.

  • Exposure to formaldehyde can cause irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and skin.

  • People with asthma or other respiratory diseases may be more sensitive than others to the effects of breathing formaldehyde.

  • Formaldehyde is classified as a known human carcinogen (cancer-causing chemical).

  • Formaldehyde exposure in some occupations has been linked to cancer of the nasal passages and upper throat.

Although salon workers are a lot more likely to be exposed to formaldehyde, as a client, you too are exposed at varying levels.

Let’s talk about a natural keratin alternative

Traditional keratin treatments work by coating the hair from the outside which is partly why this treatment only lasts for up to 3 months. Add to that the fact that it's just not good for your hair, nor your health for that matter… as you know by now.

So what’s the alternative?

How can you get the same frizz taming without all the chemicals?

We believe the best alternative is our Scalp Rescue Smoothing Balm.

Are we biased? Perhaps. But here’s exactly how it works…

Instead of coating your hair like keratin does, our balm works from the inside out to help provide long term hair health/ The gel base balm contains our proprietary vegan alternative to keratin that doesn’t require the use of questionable chemicals (including formaldehyde and silicone). Your hair will benefit from our vegan keratin replacement, Vegatin, which is filled with a combination of Wheat Amino Acids, Soy Amino Acids, Arginine HCL, Serine, and Theanone.

This combination builds your hair strength and elasticity; naturally reducing breakage.

What are the Vegatin treatment benefits of Scalp Rescue Smoothing Balm?

In addition to being a suitable, natural, Vegatin treatment, our Scalp Rescue Smoothing Balm comes with many more benefits for your hair!

Reduces hair breakage and rebuilds damage

Vegatin is our vegan keratin replacement, and contains an advanced blend of safe amino acids that do not result in the creation of formaldehyde. This along with quinoa, helps to rebuild your hair strength and rebuild damage. Quinoa also improves hair color retention! Argan oil also helps to hydrate and soften as it is so high in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamin E.

Increases shine and conditions

Infused with creamy argan, macadamia, coconut oil, our gel increases conditions and protects against the effects of humidity; while pro-vitamin b5 also keeps hair shiny, luscious and manageable all day long.

Natural looking and works for many hair types

Not only is Scalp Rescue Smoothing Balm vegan, cruelty-free, GMO free, and gluten free, it’s also suitable for all sorts of hair needs including curly hair, straight hair, graying hair, and color processed hair; remember it smooths your hair shaft and not your lovely curls. Made with just pure botanical oils, this gel provides a non-stick, stiff, or crunchy light hold! One last thing… it’s super concentrated so definitely try not to use too much!

Hi I had the braliz hair straightening treatment which is vegan and supposedly chemical treatment 2 months ago. Since then my hair is way too straight, lifeless, flat and will not hold a style. It has no body. It also gets greasy very soon after washing. I am really worried that my hair has been permanently straightened. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. Is there any way to get rid of it from hair.

MGA says: Are you using our Scalp Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner? If you're not, and your hair is getting greasy after washing then it could be because the shampoo your using is heavy in Quats and silicone derivatives. Straight, lifeless, flat hair needs a good clarifying shampoo and ours will be great for that. We'd also recommend the Scalp Rescue Sculpting Gel to add volume and definition; this is an extreme hold gel so after some time the Scalp Rescue Styling Gel might be a better option. Our Scalp Rescue line should give your hair every thing that it needs, but be patient because sometimes hair can be stubborn after these treatments :) Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Hi there - I have been having keratin treatments for the past two/three years and am worried about hair thinning, caused by the process. Are you able to guarantee that your vegan product and the application process does not lead to thinning hair and if so, what are the instructions please?

The application of Keratin can be a somewhat harsh treatment for some people. Our vegan keratin treatment is not chemically related to Keratin but it does leave hair with the same silky smooth benefits. Remember that it is a cumulative product so hair gets better with every use. Scalp Rescue Smoothing Balm is safe and gentle to use. Any thinning of the hair should be referred to a healthcare provider.
